The Charlton-King-Vandam Historic District may be a little historic district placed within the South Village space of the residential district neighborhood of Manhattan, big apple town. Selected by the big apple town Landmarks Preservation Commission (NYCLPC) in 1966, the district contains “the city’s largest concentration of row homes within the Federal vogue, also as a big concentration of Greek Revival homes.”The district includes components, however not all, of Charlton, King and Vandam Streets between the Avenue of dry land (Sixth Avenue) and Varick Street (the southern extension of Seventh Avenue), also because the block finite by King, MacDougal and Houston Streets and Sixth Avenue. In its designation report, the NYCLPC emphasised that this space wasn’t a contemporary creation, however had “always been, since its starting, a definite and separate neighborhood.” In 1973, the district was accessorial to the National Register of Historic Places.
