Mission urban center First State Asís, or Mission Dolores, is that the oldest extant structure in urban center and therefore the sixth spiritual settlement established as a part of the California chain of missions. The Mission was supported on Christian holy day, 1776, by Lieutenant José Joaquin Moraga and Father Francisco Palóu (a companion of Father Junipero Serra), each members of the First State Anza Expedition, that had been charged with transportation Spanish settlers to Alta (upper) California, and evangelizing the native Natives, the Ohlone.
