New Birth Missionary Protestant denomination may be a megachurch pass senior pastor Bishop Eddie Long in unorganized DeKalb County, Georgia, close to Lithonia. It’s embraced a Pentecostal theology not generally found in African-American Baptist churches. The church was based in 1939 in Scottdale as Travelers Rest Protestant denomination. In 1983, it rapt to Decatur and adopted its current name. Long took over as pastor in 1987. At the time, the church had solely three hundred members. Since his installation, membership has adult to twenty five,000.
