The Broadway-Chambers Building, placed at 277 Broadway on the northwest corner of Chambers Street within the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, ny town, was made from 1899 to 1900, and was creator Cass Gilbert’s 1st style within the town. The 18-story edifice is meant within the Beaux-Arts vogue. On the building’s completion in 1900, the critic Montgomery Schuyler aforesaid that it had been “…the summation of that variety of style of a tall building,” and in 1998 musician Muschamp wrote within the ny Times of Gilbert’s design:The building incorporates one among Gilbert’s emblems, the in depth use of field of study sculpture on the cornice of the arcade at the highest of the building, which has the heads of lions and ladies. Gilbert went on to be one among the pre-eminent architects of his time, planning the businessman Building and therefore the us Supreme Court building, among several others. Many corporations collaborated to form AN exhibit concerning the development of the building at the Paris Exposition of 1900. The Broadway-Chambers Building was selected a replacement House of York town landmark in 1992.
