The depository was established in 1909 by the Houston depository and Scientific Society, a corporation whose goals were to produce a free establishment for the folks of Houston specializing in education and science. The depository advanced consists of a central facility with four floors of science halls and exhibits, Burke Baker Planetarium, Cockrell Butterfly Center and therefore the Wortham big Screen Theater (formerly referred to as the Wortham IMAX Theatre).
