Highlands is associate incorporated city in Macon County within the U.S. State of North geographic area. Set on a upland within the southern chain of mountains, at intervals the Nantahala National Forest, it lies largely in southeastern Macon County and slightly in southwestern Jackson County, within the Highlands and Cashiers (pronounced “cashers”) townships, severally. Highlands was supported in 1875 once its 2 founders, prophet President Kelsey and Clinton Carter Anne Hutchinson, thespian lines from Chicago to Savannah and from city to ny. They felt that the place wherever these lines met would eventually become an excellent commerce center and industrial crossroads.
