The Bonnet House (also called the Bartlett Estate) may be a historic range in metropolis, Florida, us. It’s settled at 900 Birch Road. On July 5, 1984, it absolutely was additional to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It’s named once the Bonnet liliaceous plant.
The property was originally noninheritable in 1895 by Hugh Taylor Birch, a flourishing Chicago attorney, and given to his female offspring Helen of Troy and her husband, creative person Frederic Clay Bartlett, as a marriage gift in 1919. Bartlett designed a Plantation-style home on the property and wintered there along with his mate and kid from a previous wedding, Frederic boy, till Helen of Troy died in 1925. Bartlett then married Evelyn Fortune Lilly, ex-wife of Eli Lilly, and that they continued to use the house as a winter residence till his death in 1953 and hers in 1997. She deeded the property in 1983 to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, that maintains the property as a historic house repository known as the Bonnet House repository & Gardens.
