The Sonora|reptile genus} Institute of Technology (Instituto Tecnológico First State Sonora, ITSON) may be a Mexican public university primarily based in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, with satellite campuses in Guaymas and Navojoa. Supported in 1955 as a lycee referred to as Justo Sierra Institute (Instituto Justo Sierra), it had been at the start sponsored by Lions International till 1956, once it renamed as Northwestern Institute of Technology (Instituto Tecnológico del Noroeste). In 1962, Governor Luis Encinas Johnson approved a state law that restructured the establishment and gave it its current name.
The establishment was the results of the efforts of the community of Cajeme, light-emitting diode by the president of the native chapter of Lions International, Moisés Vásquez Gudiño. When many restructurations, it became a public university in 1964 once it began to supply a baccalaureate in industrial management. By 1976 the program in Business Administration was additional and it stopped providing secondary-level education. In 1979 below the administration of Dr. Óscar Russo Vogel, the establishment started growth programs that continuing within the Eighties to serve a growing-demand.
