The Swinney Recreation Center may be a a pair of,000-seat arena in Kansas town, Missouri. Placed on the field of the University of Missouri-Kansas town, it’s the house of the UMKC Kangaroos wash room and women’s basketball groups. It’s dear called “Old Swinney” by students.
It was originally inbuilt 1940 as Swinney Gymnasium by what was then the University of Kansas town. It had been named in honor of Edward F. Swinney, chairman of 1st commercial bank of Kansas town (now a part of Bank of America), UN agency had given $250,000 toward the project. It had been renamed the Swinney Recreation Center when a $14.5 million renovation in 2007.
The wash room team vie at Swinney throughout its days as associate degree NAIA member, and rapt to Municipal area once it joined the NCAA. However, in 2010, UMKC declared that the wash room team would create a heavily restored Swinney its primary basketball court.
