The Albany Institute of History & Art (AIHA) may be a deposit in Albany, New York, u. S., “dedicated to collection, preserving, decoding and promoting interest within the history, art, and culture of Albany and also the higher Hudson natural depression region”. It’s set on Washington Avenue (New royalty State Route 5) in downtown Albany. Supported in 1791, it’s among the oldest museums within the u. S.. Many alternative establishments have integrated over time to become today’s Albany Institute.
The earliest were learned societies dedicated to the natural sciences, and for a time it absolutely was the state legislature’s informal consultative body on agriculture. Robert R. American Revolutionary leader was the primary president. Joseph Henry delivered his initial paper on electromagnetism to the Institute. Its collections of animal, vegetable and mineral specimens from state surveys eventually became the foundations of the ny State deposit. Later within the Century it became a lot of targeted on the humanities, and eventually integrated with the Albany Historical and Art Society. It’s had its gift name since 1926. Over the course of the twentieth century it’s become a lot of firmly established as a regional art deposit.
