Detail InformationEdit

The Lee-Fendall home is a historic house depository and garden set in previous city Alexandria, Virginia. Since its construction in 1785 the house has served as home to xxxvii members of the Lee Family (1785–1903), many convalescing Union troopers (1863–1865), the distinguished Downham family (1903–1937), and powerful leader John L. Lewis (1937–1969). The 1785 house, standing on its original half-acre heap, is within the vernacular “telescopic style” of design just like several Maryland homes, however not found elsewhere in northern Virginia. The house was restored in 1850, adding Greek Revival and Italianate parts to the initial structure.
