Wyoming could be a village and census-designated place on the Wood stream in southern Rhode Island, primarily within the city of Richmond, however extending north across the stream (which defines the city line) into the city of Hopkinton. It’s the positioning of the American state Village Historic District and a post workplace location, assigned postal code 02898.
The American state Village Historic District could be a historic district roughly finite by Rhode Island Routes 138 and three, recent Nooseneck Hill Road, Bridge and Prospect Streets in Richmond. The district, which has Brand’s Ironworks, includes samples of Greek Revival, Late Victorian, and Federal design and was superimposed to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Prospect Street on the Hopkinton aspect of the stream could be a residential neighborhood that grew up within the mid-19th century in reference to the expansion of the textile trade in Wyoming; it includes many Greek Revival homes engineered between 1846 and 1850. The historic district covers properties in each the cities of Richmond and Hopkinton, with a complete space of 570 acres (230 ha), virtually one square measure.
