The Kelowna room may be a Canadian public room placed in Kelowna, Canadian province supported in 1976. The gallery has become a number one public room serving the central Okanagan region. The gallery was incorporated as a not-for-profit charitable society in 1977. The gallery’s permanent assortment started with the acquisition of once the Rain by Okanagan resident Irvine Adams (1902–1992) in 1977. Since then, near five hundred objects are noninheritable by the gallery through donation and buy.
The Kelowna room was originally housed within the Kelowna Centennial depository. In 1996, a 15,758-square-foot (1,464.0 m2) facility meeting national standards for secure, climate-controlled storage and exhibition of artworks was made by the town of Kelowna and hired to the depository. On Allhallows, 2006, the Kelowna room was granted “A” standing by the Minister of Canadian Heritage.
