The Linn seat is found on May’s Island within the middle of the Cedar watercourse in city, Iowa, u. S.. It, together with the Veterans Memorial Building, could be a causative property to the May’s Island Historic District that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The courthouse is that the third building the county has used for court functions and county administration.
The present courthouse was designed of Bedford stone within the Beaux-Arts vogue. 10 columns adorn the front of the three-story building. The inside walls were designed of travertine and marble covers the floors. The building sustained harm from the Iowa flood of 2008. The higher floors of the courthouse reopened in Oct that year.
