Detail InformationEdit

The Oak Creek Irrigation Canal was built in 1935 by CCC labor to irrigate vegetation in the park’s South Campground. Extra enhancements were undertaken in 1941 to switch wood flumes and to make new concrete diversion dams. The 2-mile (3.2 km) canal diverts water from the North Fork of The Virgin watercourse with a diversion dam that spans the watercourse.
A headgate on the geographical area controls the flow. More works dead in 1959 and 1961 give irrigation to the traveler center and also the Pine Creek community before laterals come out to irrigate the South land site. The ditch then rejoins the watercourse. The canal is essentially lined with concrete. A siphon connected to the south entrance plaza.
The Oak Creek Canal was on an individual basis listed on the National Register of Historic Places on Gregorian calendar month seven, 1987, reference variety 86003738.
