Yachats could be a tiny coastal town in Lincoln County, Oregon, us. Consistent with Oregon Geographic Names, the name comes from the Siletz language, and means that “dark water at the foot of the mountain”. There’s a spread of differing etymologies, however.William Bright says the name comes from the Alsea placename /yaxayky/. At the 2000 census, the city’s population was 617. In 2007, Budget Travel magazine named Yachats one amongst the “Ten Coolest tiny cities of the U.S.A.”. Yachats was chosen among the highest ten U.S. Industrious vacation destinations by Virtualtourist.
