Detail InformationEdit

Maybert may be a former settlement in NV County, California. Located at associate elevation of three,245 foot (989 m) on top of water level, it still appeared on maps as of 1902. Maybert is found on the South Yuba stream, 5.5 miles (8.9 km) sou’-sou’-east of Graniteville. Maybert is vi miles upstream from the city of Washington, CA, accessible via the Maybert Road. The historic Yuba Mine is found at the Maybert city web site. The Yuba mine was once in hand by members of the newspaper publisher|publisher|newspaper publisher} family (of Hearst Castle fame).
A post workplace operated at Maybert from 1886 to 1905 and once more from 1907 to 1910. The name comes from the Maybert mine close. Up till the Nineteen Sixties, some cabins remained and were occupied by squatters. The Forest service, with the property-owner’s permission, burned the remaining buildings to the bottom to drive the squatters out and avoid the danger of inferno from individuals squatting there. (Family story of a former property owner).
