Burkesville was a reasonably busy stream port whose prime came throughout the latter a part of the nineteenth century once water transportation was the foremost possible thanks to move giant quantities of products. The increase of larger craft just like the riverboat needed diligent dredging of the river bottom to stay it passable thus far upstream.
