Charlemont may be a city in Franklin County, Massachusetts, us. It’s a part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. Charlemont was 1st settled in 1743, having been depart as Boston administrative division #1 in 1735. The city was on the distant frontier at the time, and was the topic of many raids by Native Americans. The city was incorporated as Charlemont in 1765, possibly named for the city in Northern Ireland. The city was principally rural, with farming being the most business till the arrival of the railroad, that traveled through city towards the Hoosac Tunnel. Today the town industry also includes tourism, with a ski space and alternative holidaymaker areas on the Mohawk path.
