The town Micropolitan Statistical Area consists of all of Butler County. The city is at the crossroads of U.S. Road sixty and U.S. Highway 67. Town takes its name from a bluff that overlooks Black watercourse. Once initial settled, the bluff was coated with poplar trees. The pantryman seat and therefore the offices of the Daily yankee Republic newspaper sit on this website. Town lies along an escarpment separating the Ozark Foothills from the Mississippi embayment in Southeast Missouri. The foothills deceive the north and west and therefore the embayment is to the south and east. The encircling space is often called the “Three Rivers” with several native organizations and businesses mistreatment the name.
