The South Market Street Bridge, formally the legislator John E. Reilly, Sr. Bridge, could be a structure bridge that spans the Christina stream in Wilmington, Delaware.The current bridge, opened in 1927, is that the latest of the many bridges that have spanned the Christina at this location since 1808 once the primary wood flip bridge was made.
Its construction was administered by the then expressway Department (predecessor of the Delaware Department of Transportation), and was designed to interchange the swing bridge that was inbuilt 1883 to interchange the wood flip bridge inbuilt 1808.The bridge underwent a significant rehabilitation in 2004-2006 to interchange and upgrade the prevailing machinery and improve lighting, pedestrian walkways, and also the operator towers.
