Granisle may be a village on Babine Lake within the Northern Interior of Canadian province, Canada, to the north of Topley between Burns Lake and Houston. The first inhabitants of the world were Carrier Indians, referred to as “Babine” by the first explorers, pertaining to the distended embellished lower lips of the native ladies.
The village of Granisle was supported within the late Sixties and early Seventies on the shores of Babine Lake as a home for the families of the miners operating within the near copper mines. Granisle was incorporated as a village in 1971. At the peak of its population, Granisle boasted more or less three,000 people. When the last mine close up in 1992, the community remodeled into a retirement destination. Touristry within the space additionally began to grow and is currently the area’s main business.
