Bancroft could be a town located on the York River in Hastings County within the province of Ontario. The place was 1st incorporated as a village in December 1904. In 1999, the Village of Bancroft incorporated with Dungannon town to make the city of Bancroft. The city was once a centre for work, trapping, and mining. atomic number 92 mining created a boom within the Fifties and 60s, however the closing of the Madawaska Mine in 1982 caused some economic hardship.
