The city of South Bend is that the seat of St. Joseph County, Indiana, u. S., on the St. Joseph stream close to its southmost bend, from that it derives its name. As of the 2010 Census, town had a complete of 101,168 residents; its Metropolitan applied mathematics space had a population of 316,663 and Combined applied mathematics space of 544,582. It is the fourth largest town in American state, and also the economic and cultural hub of the Michiana region, with the University of Notre Dame situated simply to the north in unorganised Notre Dame, Indiana. The world was originally settled within the early eighteenth century by fur traders, and established as a town in 1865. The St. Joseph stream formed South Bend’s economy through the mid-20th century. Stream access aided serious industrial development like that of Studebaker, jazzman Chilled Plow Company and alternative massive companies.
