The First Protestant denomination building was created of red arenaceous rock in Gothic-Romanesque vogue, that includes round-arched windows and semi-circular rows of pews. When built, the building was within the residential neighborhood of Marcy-Holmes; it had been encircled by mansions of thief barons of the time, as well as Octavius Broughton, economist Fisk, Thomas Andrews, Van Cleve, William McNair, and John Dudley.
