The Dewey Arch was a memorial that stood from 1899 to 1900 at Madison sq. In Manhattan, New York. It had been erected for the parade in honor of Admiral naval officer to celebrate his finish within the Battle of naval battle at the Philippines in 1898.
In spring 1899, coming up with for the parade, that was scheduled for September, began. Creator Charles R. Lamb found support for his plan of building a memorial amongst the members of the National Sculpture Society, of that he conjointly was a member. A committee of the society, comprising Lamb, Karl Bitter, Frederick W. Ruckstull, John Josiah Quincy Adams Ward, and John Diamond State Witt Warner, projected the development of associate degree arch to town of latest royalty, that approved these plans in July 1899.
