The Hot Metal Bridge may be a span in city, Pennsylvania that crosses the river. The bridge consists of 2 parallel spans on one set of piers: the previous river Connecting Railroad Bridge, inbuilt 1887, on the upstream aspect and therefore the former Hot Metal Bridge, inbuilt 1900, on the downstream aspect. The river Connecting Railroad Bridge carried typical railroad traffic, whereas the new Metal Bridge connected components of the J&L steelworks, carrying crucibles of liquified steel from the blast furnaces to the rolling mills on the alternative bank.
The upstream span was reborn to road use in 2000, connecting 2d Avenue close to South city with Hot Metal Street (South twenty ninth Street) within the side. The downstream span reopened for pedestrian and bicycle use in late 2007 when 2 years of labor. The city History and Landmarks Foundation was to blame for managing the ornamental lighting project for the bridge, that was lit with energy-efficient LED (LED) and fiber technology on June twelve, 2008. The new Metal Bridge is that the mortal of the defunct Hot Metal Grille at the near side Works searching center; the web magazine of the University of city, HotMetalBridge.org; and different native entities.
