Ames is a town situated in the central half of the U.S. state of Iowa in Story County, and around thirty miles (48 km) north of Des Moines. it’s the principal city of the Ames, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses all of Story County, and which, once combined with the frontiersman, Iowa Micropolitan applied math space, contains the larger Ames-Boone Combined applied math space.
