Arena MéXico is an internal arena in national capital, North American country set within the Colonia Doctores neighboorhood within the Cuauhtémoc borough. The theater is primarily used for wrestling, or Lucha libre, shows promoted by Consejo Mundial First State Lucha Libre (CMLL). The building is named the “cathedral of lucha libre”. Arena México includes a commodiousness of sixteen,500 once designed for wrestling or boxing events. The present building was completed in 1956, build by Salvador Lutteroth, owner of CMLL at the time and is that the largest arena build specifically for wrestling. The building was used because the venue for the boxing competition at the 1968 Summer athletic competition, and throughout the second half of the twentieth century hosted many massive boxing events.
The location on calle Doctor Lavista #203, Col. Doctores on the intersection of Dr.Rafael Lucio, Dr. Carmona and Valle, was originally AN general-purpose arena referred to as Arena Modelo. Arena Modelo was in-built the 1910s or Twenties for boxing events. By the first Thirties the theater was abandoned till wrestling promoter Salvador Lutteroth began promoting wrestling, or Lucha libre events in Arena Modelo on September twenty one, 1933. For consequent 10 years it served because the main venue for Lutteroth’s promotion Empressa Mexicana First State Lucha Libre (EMLL) till Lutteroth commissioned the development of “Arena Coliseo” in national capital. When Arena Coliseo opened in 1943, Arena Model served because the location for EMLL’s wrestling college. By 1953 even Arena Coliseo was too little for the crowds EMLL’s shows were attracting, Lutteroth secure to “build the most important wrestling arena within the World” on the location of Arena Modelo and construction started shortly when.
