Sanasar is the name given to the two small villages of Sana and Sar in Jammu province, Jammu and Kashmir state, India. Named after small local lakes, Sana and Sar are located 20 km west of Patnitop, Udhampur district on the national highway 1A. At an altitude of 2,050 metres it is the hub for adventure sport activities in the Jammu region. The area is notable for its scenic views of mountain ranges including the Brammah Massif.

HistoryEdit

Sanasar is nearby mountain range is called the Shanta Ridge. The Shank Pal Temple is located at the highest point of the Shank Pal ridge, at an altitude of 2,800 metres, a few hours’ walk from Sanasar. The 400-year-old temple is dedicated to Nag Shank Pal. No mortar was used to join the stones of the temple.

Taxi : The most convenient way to access Sanasar is to travel in your own vehicle. The other option would be hiring a taxi from Jammu (119 km). Taxis are available from Jammu at reasonable rates.

BUS : Jammu is well connected by bus services. It is connected to many neighboring cities through private tourist buses including Manali (Rs 1,500), Shimla (Rs 1,500), Amritsar (Rs 900), Ludhiana (Rs 1,200) and Delhi. Delhi to Jammu is about 684 km and tourist deluxe buses charge about Rs 2,000.
