Kakabeka Falls Generating Station began operative in 1906, with 2 electricity generating units. A 3rd unit was side in 1911, and a fourth was side in 1914. Its four units give a peak output of twenty five MW, enough energy to produce fourteen,000 homes.
The station is among the oldest power stations in Ontario, and far of the initial instrumentality from 1906 remains operating.
