Placed at the intersection of Fourth and Mission Streets, across from the Sony Metreon and Moscone Convention Center, the building is recognizable by the distinctive postmodernist “jukebox” look of its high-rise tower. The building was completed in 1989, and contains one,500 building rooms. The first field firm Zeidler Partnership Architects was replaced by DMJM creator Anthony J Lumsden, WHO gave the building its overall type of architecture. The urban center Marriott is that the second tallest building in urban center, once Hilton urban center Tower I.
