Congregation Mickve Israel in Savannah, Georgia, is one in all the oldest synagogues within the us, the congregation having begun in 1733. The temple, settled on Monterey sq. In historic Savannah, was consecrated in 1878, and may be a rare example of a Gothic-style temple. The temple building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
