Detail InformationEdit

The Citadelle Laferrière or, Citadelle Henry Christophe, or just the Citadelle (in English, spelled Citadel), could be a massive mountaintop defense in northern Haiti, more or less seventeen miles (27 km) south of city|town} of Cap-Haïtien and 5 miles (8 km) uphill from the town of Milot. It’s the most important defense within the Americas and was selected by the UN instructional, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a World Heritage web site in 1982-along with the close Sans-Souci Palace. The mountaintop defense has itself become associate degree icon of Haiti. The stronghold was designed by Henri Christophe, a key leader throughout the Haitian slave rebellion, once Haiti gained independence from France at the start of the nineteenth century.
