In 1894, Algona, at the side of alternative Iowa communities like Dysart and Wesley, became a part of the project referred to as the “Orphan Trains”. Between 1869 and 1875 the community was the situation of Algona school, an establishment sponsored by the Methodists. Algona could be a town in and therefore the county courthouse of Kossuth County, Iowa, u. s.. Ambrose A. decision State Park is found 2 miles southwest of the town.
