While passing through a part of thunderstorms and turbulence over Ohio early within the morning of three September 1925, the dirigible USS Shenandoah was torn apart and crashed in many items close to writer. Writer is that the location of the Thorla-McKee Well, believed to be the primary oil-producing well in North America. The village is called for Joseph and Samuel writer, its original landowners.
