Joppa, Maryland in Harford County, Maryland is currently a coming up with region for the county, however there was originally a city at the middle referred to as port. port was supported as a British colonial settlement within the early eighteenth century, and takes its name from the biblical city of port (Jaffa, Israel). The city of port on the powder stream listed internationally in agricultural merchandise, particularly tobacco. At its peak, the port was home to regarding fifty homes, a church, prison, inns, shops, schools, armament factories, and warehouses. However, with the increase of urban center and capital of Maryland, port declined as a port, and was slowly abandoned. By 1815 all the remained were ruins and also the extant Rumsey Mansion.
