Ilimanaq could be a settlement within the Qaasuitsup municipality in western Gronland. It had eighty four inhabitants in 2010. The name of the village suggests that “the place of expectations” in Greenlandic. Ilimanaq is found on the japanese shore of Disko Bay, simply south of the mouth of the Ilulissat Icefjord.
Air Gronland serves the village as a part of government contract, with winter-only chopper flights between Ilimanaq airport and Ilulissat airfield. Throughout summer and fall, once the waters of Disko Bay area unit passable, communication between settlements is by ocean solely, serviceable by Diskoline.
