Fort McPherson could be a hamlet set within the Inuvik Region of the Northwest Territories, Canada. It’s set on the east bank of the Peel stream and is 121 kilometre (75 mi) south of Inuvik on the Dempster main road. Population is 776 in line with the 2006 Census, a small increase over the 2001 Census count of 761. In 2009 the govt. Of the Northwest Territories reported that the population was 791 with a mean yearly rate of -1.1 from one996.
In the 2006 Census 715 folks known as aboriginal, 650 as North yankee Indian, thirty as half-breed, thirty as Inuit or Inuvialuit, ten giving multiple or different aboriginal responses and fifty five Non-Aboriginal.The two principal languages spoken ar Gwich’in and English. Fort McPherson is accessible by road all year from Dawson town and Whitehorse, Yukon, with the exception of spring break-up and fall freeze-up on the Peel stream.
