The state is known as for the Missouri River, that was named when the Siouan-language tribe. They were referred to as the ouemessourita (wimihsoorita), which means “those WHO have dugout canoes”, by the Miami-Illinois language speakers. The Illini were the primary natives encountered by Europeans within the region and that they adopted the name of the Missouri from them. Missouri borders eight totally different states, as will its neighbor, Tennessee. No state within the U.S. Touches over eight states.
Missouri is delimited on the north by Iowa; on the east, across the Mississippi, by Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee; on the south by Arkansas and on the west by Sooner State, Kansas, and Nebraska (the last across the Missouri River). The 2 largest Missouri rivers area unit the Mississippi, that defines the jap boundary of the state, and also the Missouri River, that flows from west to east through the state, basically connecting the 2 largest metros, Kansas town and St. Louis.
