Portland Children’s deposit may be a children’s deposit placed in Portland’s Washington Park, adjacent to the Oregon facility. Supported in 1946, Portland Children’s deposit is that the sixth oldest children’s deposit within the World and also the oldest West of the Mississippi. The 50,000 square foot (4,600 m2) deposit receives over 1 / 4 of 1,000,000 visits from youngsters and their families per annum. It’s a non-profit organization with exempt standing and member of the Association of Children’s Museums.
Portland Children’s deposit was supported in 1946 because the journey House by recreation director of Portland Parks & Recreation, Dorothea Lensch. Dr. Lensch was the primary girl appointed Recreation Director for the division. The first deposit building was placed at the Jacob Kamm mansion in Southwest Portland till 1950 once it stirred to a building (formerly a dormitory) on habitation Hill simply south of downtown Portland. After fifty one years of occupancy at the downtown location, the building was closed on March thirty one, 2001, and Portland Children’s deposit stirred to its current location in Washington Park, within the building that antecedently housed Oregon deposit Of Science And trade. Since moving to Washington Park, Portland Children’s deposit has welcome nearly 2 million guests.
