Shree Krishna Temple Udipi is 1st among the seven places of pilgrimages. Thousands of pious devotees throng the Udupi Krishna temple all around the year to catch a glimpse of Lord Krishna. The distinctive feature of Shree Krishna domestic dog temple is that the Lord is idolized solely through a window with 9 holes referred to as the Navagraha Kitiki. The window is delicately incised and silver plated. it’s been a practice during this temple to worship the Lord solely through this window.

Krishna Matha was supported by the Vaishnavite saint Shri Madhwacharya within the thirteenth century. He was the founding father of the Dvaita college of Vedanta. It’s believed that Madhwacharya found the idol of SriKrishna in a very giant ball of gopichandana. As told by Sri Madhwacharya in his ‘ Tantrasara Sangraha’ the Idol is placed Pashimabhimukha. All alternative, the opposite idols in other Ashta mutts face Western facet also. Once Kanakadasa, a pious worshiper and buff of Lord Krishna, was staying in a very makeshift domicile ahead of Krishna mongrel. There was associate earthquake within the night and also the outer temple wall cracked such the simplest way that there was a good enough gap for Kanakadasa to possess darshana of the idol. Till today, devotees still worship Lord Krishna by praying through constant window wherever kanakadasa was seeing the Pooja from outside. It is called Kanakanakhindi.

Bus : Buses regularly ply from major southern cities to Udupi. Volvo (AC buses), Airbuses or KSRTC buses are available here, choose as per your budget. Udupi has excellent city bus services run by various private companies. Buses generally start and end at the main bus stand. Bus stops are located throughout the city.

Train : Udupi is a major station on the Konkan railway route. There are connections with Mumbai and Mangalore. Major trains including Rajadhani Express stop at Udupi Railway Station. A night train is available from Mangalore to Bangalore, known simply as the Mangalore-Bangalore express.

Air : Mangalore International Airport is 59 km from Udupi. The airport is well-connected with major Indian cities and a few Middle-eastern destination. Prepaid taxis can be booked from the counter located inside the arrival terminal at ₹780 (as on 14-Jun-2008). They take approximately 1.5 hours to reach.

Others : Autorickshaws can be, and are generally a cheap mode to travel. For autos, fares start at ₹20 for the first 1.5 km and go up by ₹14 every kilometer after that.
