Tara Mandir, in Porbandar belies its name as it not a temple at all but a planetarium, designed only by the donation of Shri Nanjibhai. Tara is actually Gujarati word for stars. What lends any relevance the place is that it’s one of the maiden 2 planetariums in India. Asian country to be started by the first Prime Minister of India Pandit jawaharlal nehru. Housed inside the Mandir is an overhead round screen, adeptly projected on that are detailed renditions of the moon, stars and other heavenly bodies.
