Ananta Vasudeva Temple is the worship place of the idols of Lord Krishna, Lord Balaram and Goddess Subhadra are worshipped there. Balarama stands under a seven hooded serpent, Subhadra holds Jewels pot and lotus in her two hands keping her left foot over another jewel pot, while Krishna holds a mace, chakra, lotus and a conch. First of its kind in a group of dated temples, the main temple stands on a uniform platform. The temple contains a three-chambered frontal adjunct consisting of Jagamohana, the Natamandira and the Bhogamandapa. The temple dates back to the period of Chandrika Devi, the daughter of Anangabhima III, during the reign of the king Bhanudeva.

HistoryEdit

Ananta Vasudeva Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, built in the 13th century, it is a Vaishnav temple. In the temple is housed the idol of Lord Balaram, which is over headed by a seven hooded serpent and the idol of Lord Krishna holding a mace and conch. Temple belongs to the period of Chandrika, the daughter of Anangabhima III, and was built during the reign of the King Bhanudeva. Unlike the images of Puri, idols found in the garbhagruha of the temple have complete structures. Black granite stone has been used to carve the shrimurties. Different kinds of Naivedyas are offered daily.

Taxi : This place is well connected by road and is easily accessible by taxis. Taxis are also available from Bhubaneshwar charging anywhere from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.

Bus : The New Bus Stand which is located at a distance of 6 km from the town center connects well to the major cities around Bhubaneswar. Bhubaneswar is connected to Puri (56 km) and Konark (36 km by regular bus services.

Train : Bhubaneswar railway station is about 6 km away from the city center. This railhead is well-connected to the metro cities and also to the cities Delhi (Bbs Duronto Exp), Kolkata (Falaknuma Exp), Hyderabad (Konark Express), Chennai (Coromandal Exp), Mumbai (Puri Ltt Sf Exp) and Bangalore (Bbs Ypr Sup Exp).

Air : Biju Patnaik airport at Bhubaneswar is nearly 5 km away from the heart of the city. It costs about Rs 100 by taxi cab. The airport is connected to Delhi and Mumbai. International travelers need to get connections through Delhi.
