Lopra may be a village on the island of Suðuroy within the Faroe Islands, with the code FO 926. In 2009 its population was ninety six. It’s placed within the Municipality of Sumba beside the villages Akrar, Sumba and Víkarbyrgi, constituting the south settlements within the Faroe Islands. The name Lopra could have its origin within the gaelic word “lobar” that interprets into English as Hansen’s disease, and Lopra could also be a pre-norse settlement of Gaelic hermits from c.6th to c.8th AD.
Lopranseiði and Lopransholmur square measure lovely sights close to Lopra. Flip left simply before you enter the village, if you return from Vágur, and pass foot towards west. Use caution to not collapse the sting, once you return to Loprans Eiði. From Lopranseiði you’ll be able to see Beinisvørð towards south and virtually 1/2 the geographic region of Suðuroy.
