Lake Urmia may be a salt lake in northwestern Asian nation close to Iran’s border with Turkey. The lake is between the Iranian provinces of East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan, west of the southern portion of the equally formed Caspian Sea. It’s the biggest lake within the geographic region, and therefore the third largest seawater lake on earth, with a area of roughly five,200 km² (2,000 mile²), one hundred forty klick (87 mi) length, fifty five klick (34 mi) dimension, and sixteen m (52 ft) depth.It is protected as a parkland by the Iranian Department of surroundings. In 1967 the Department sent a team of Iranian scientists to count the ruminant polpulation and study the ecology of the Shahi Island. A paper on the ecology of the island was printed within the Iranian Scientific Sokhan by Javad Hashemi. This enclosed a microscopic study of the breeding habit of Artemia.Lake Urmia has 102 islands. The second largest island, Shahi Island, is that the burial place of Hulagu Khan, the grandchild of Jinghis Khan and therefore the sacker of Bagdad.
