Palpa is a town in Southern Peru, capital of the province Palpa in the region Ica. Located at a distance of 400 kilometers from the capital city of Lima, Palpa is conveniently accessible through the PanAmerican highway. Like Nazca, Palpa is also famous for the Palpa Lines which possibly antedate the Nazca Lines by a few centuries. Though the government of Peru has notified is as a preserved archaeological zone restricting pedestrian activities, this region is not yet completely mapped. There is an interesting museum housed within Palpa’s town hall which can give you up-to-date information including research activities covering the Palpa Lines.
