The Shortcut is a famous street in Rotterdam. The Shortcut already existed in 1454 and was the connection between Rotterdam and Schoonderloo and Delfshaven. The Shortcut ended in Rotterdam at the bridge over the Binnenwegse Cool Vest (old name of Coolsingel) and Binnenwegse Gate. In the seventeenth century was the Shortcut already built up to the Mauritsweg. The Old Shortcut between Charles Doormanstraat and Mauritsweg was the bombing of Rotterdam hardly affected and is the only surviving pre-war shopping area in the center of Rotterdam.
