Nieuweroord (Drents: Neieroord) is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe, Hoogeveen municipality, with about 510 inhabitants (1 January 2004). Nieuweroord is a fen, which originally consisted of ribbon development along the central twist. At the end thereof, the Extended Hoogeveense Vaart is a small alotment arise. It has long been a divided village: it lay in the town of Westerbork, but was fully oriented to Hoogeveen. With the sand village Westerbork has no affinity. This is also evident from the fact that as the peat surrounding villages in religious terms is rechtzinning while in Westerbork true liberal is. At the local government reorganization on 1 January 1998, the village people decided to share with Hoogeveen. The northernmost part of the ribbon development, however, went to Westerbork to the new municipality of Midden-Drenthe.
