Stations of the Cross also referred to as the Way of the Cross or Via Crucis or the Way of Sorrows is a ceremony performed during the Passion of the Christ during his way to Calvary. This is one of the most popular and most visited sites during the Holy Week in Camiguin’s Island. This site is situated right uphill at Mount Vulcan in Catarman. Stations of the Cross is the most popular site to be visited by the tourists as a part of the religious tours and in observance of the Lenten season. The walkway is also known as ‘the hundred steps of the history of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion’ by the locals.The fourteen stations represent the story of Jesus Christ right from trial to crucifixion and up to the day when Jesus rose from the dead.
This place is also a very popular tourist destination where visitors flock to enjoy the views of western coastlines of Camiguin Island. It takes around an hour, if you are not stopping for praying or for anything at any station, to reach the fourteenth station at the top.
